Ever since I can remember I've heard the comment that there is "no difference" between Canadians and Americans. I respectfully beg to differ as there is a difference on so many levels! We have unique Canadian culture consisting of Canadianisms, a Canadian perspective on world events, Canadian cuisine as well as products and foods only available in Canada. This blog is dedicated to celebrating all things Canadian from "my perspective" as a Canadian. Please enjoy your visit and be sure to visit often.

Americans should never underestimate the constant pressure on Canada which the mere presence of the United States has produced. We're different people from you and we're different people because of you. Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is effected by every twitch and grunt. It should not therefore be expected that this kind of nation, this Canada, should project itself as a mirror image of the United States.

A Message From Transport Canada

Recent terrorist events have resulted in increased airport security. It is nice to see that Transport Canada has increased security at Canadian airports as well with the introduction of new body scanning technology that sees right through your clothing. There is the remote chance or given the level of technology now available that the resulting graphical image of a person's naked body could somehow make in online to sites such as Facebook. Even though Transport Canada is saying this won't happen and the images will be kept for a short period of time you can bet your bottom dollar someone within the airport security will leak an image out just to prove it can be done. Surely this is contrary to Canada's Privacy Act but the general premise has been to get the scanners in place and active in the name of increased security then worry about privacy issues later. Now once these scanners are in place and considering the costs involved what are the chances of them being removed because they are an invasion of privacy?

Once again Rick Mercer gives a humorous perspective on the new airport security measures being approved by Transport Canada. It just might be a good time to find another mode of travel. Enjoy!
