Ever since I can remember I've heard the comment that there is "no difference" between Canadians and Americans. I respectfully beg to differ as there is a difference on so many levels! We have unique Canadian culture consisting of Canadianisms, a Canadian perspective on world events, Canadian cuisine as well as products and foods only available in Canada. This blog is dedicated to celebrating all things Canadian from "my perspective" as a Canadian. Please enjoy your visit and be sure to visit often.

Americans should never underestimate the constant pressure on Canada which the mere presence of the United States has produced. We're different people from you and we're different people because of you. Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is effected by every twitch and grunt. It should not therefore be expected that this kind of nation, this Canada, should project itself as a mirror image of the United States.

Current Events Interjected With a Bit of Humour

If you have been following this blog you will have noticed that I like using videos. When it comes to current events I rely on The Rick Mercer Report and This Hour Has 22 Minutes, two great Canadian television shows, to interject a bit of humour. Why? There are several reasons humour comes into play when talking about current Canadian events with one of the most important ones being that is the way Canadians deal with things. We poke fun at ourselves, our neighbours to the south, Great Britain, our elected officials, Canadian icons and current events. What is important to realize that in humour there is a dose of reality so it is just a different perspective and way of voicing displeasure while being polite about it.

Canadians like many world wide are struggling with political concerns, environmental issues, unemployment, increased crime and it short all the problems of society. The current recession hasn't helped matters either. Enjoying a bit of a chuckle while getting the point across is not a bad thing. So I hope you enjoy the videos and view them in the spirit intended.
