Ever since I can remember I've heard the comment that there is "no difference" between Canadians and Americans. I respectfully beg to differ as there is a difference on so many levels! We have unique Canadian culture consisting of Canadianisms, a Canadian perspective on world events, Canadian cuisine as well as products and foods only available in Canada. This blog is dedicated to celebrating all things Canadian from "my perspective" as a Canadian. Please enjoy your visit and be sure to visit often.

Americans should never underestimate the constant pressure on Canada which the mere presence of the United States has produced. We're different people from you and we're different people because of you. Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is effected by every twitch and grunt. It should not therefore be expected that this kind of nation, this Canada, should project itself as a mirror image of the United States.

This Hour Has 22 Minutes - Galen Weston

Willard Gorden Galen G. Weston (born October 29, 1940) is the son of Willard Garfield Weston and grandson of the founder George Weston of George Weston Bakeries Limited. Galen's brother Garry Weston (1927-2002) took charge of the family's UK operations, Associated British Foods plc. The Weston family is the second richest family in Canada and the 98th richest family in the world. Galen G. Weston is married with two children, Galen Weston Jr. (current Loblaw executive chairman and spokesperson) and Alannah Weston. Galen G. Weston's wife Hilary (born Hilary Frayne in Dublin in 1942) served as the 26th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1997 to 2002. He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1990 and awarded the Order of Ontario in 2005.

Loblaw's is known for their store brands such as 'no name®' (no frills) and has introduced the President's Choice (PC) brand including the new PC® Blue Menu™healthy choice foods. The company's corporate image stresses family both in advertising and the way their franchise owners are treated. Commercials featuring Galen Weston Jr air often enough for This Hour Has 22 Minutes to poke a little fun at them. Enjoy!
